The Unseen Cord of Relationship between Yoga and Nutrition in Health

In today’s era, innovation and technology have become the major factors responsible for a sedentary lifestyle, due to which people face a lot of challenges physically, mentally, and socially. The primary reason is their eating habits followed by their sleep cycle. Because of a sedentary lifestyle, a range of diseases has been encountered daily, like cardiovascular diseases, cancer, psychological disorders, eating disorders etc. To overcome this problem, yoga which is also considered complementary medicine, has been proposed as a new approach for treatment of many disorders. Yoga substantially means connectivity and continuity. It is a mind and body-based technique which can be effective in achieving therapy goals when practiced regularly. It recharges the body with cosmic energy and helps to attain bodily equilibrium, harmony, and promotes self-healing of an individual. The role of yoga and nutrition in health is also elaborated on. The review is based on secondary data collected from research papers, international journals, newspaper articles, and systematic reviews regarding basic standardized knowledge about the importance of yoga and nutrition. Since lifestyle-related diseases are alarmingly high in the modern world, chronic diseases, obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases are associated with lifestyle-related health behaviours which include diet, physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, sedentary lifestyle. These are some factors that have contributed to morbidity and mortality over the years. This article also talks about the role of nutrition in health and some effective approaches to implementing yoga to protect the health of an individual.
