Molecular Mechanism of the influence of Tansen’s Song on Plants: Is Serotonin the Secrete Molecule Behind?
Subscribe/Renew Journal
According to mythology, Tansen, with his songs and raags could induce vernalization and blooming of plants. At present age several scientists from the world observed effect of music on plant life. Serotonin may be the secret molecule behind this observation. It is involved in several plant life processes including photomorphogenesis such as flowering. Most interestingly, it can activate phytochrome signalling pathway and can mimic natural far red light in activity. Now, if there a correlation between musical exposure and serotonin production in plants can be found (hypothetical 'Tansen Pathway') (correlation already established in human), induction of flowering by musical tunes, as described in ancient literature - both folk and classical, as well as modern, would be confirmed.
