Report of the National Seminar on "Application of Nano-Materials and Allied Fields"

Institute of Science, Education and Culture (ISEC) and Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM) jointly organized a national seminar entitled “Application of Nano-Materials and Allied Fields” on 3rd September 2016 in the conference room of BITM. In the inaugural session, welcome address was delivered by Dr. Narayan Chandra Ghosh, the coordinator of the session. In his inaugural address Dr. E Islam, Director of BITM revisited the close relationship between ISEC and BITM in promoting integration of development activities, scientific consciousness and new paradigm of technology. In the introductory speech, on behalf of ISEC, its President, Prof. Anil Kumar Ghosh dwelt on the diversity of span of objectives and plurality of composition and tasks of ISEC. Then came the keynote address by Dr. Prabal Kumar Das, Retired Head, NOCCD, Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Jadavpur. His discourse was on “Submicron level finishing of Silicon Nitride balls for bearing application”. In his presentation he underscored “How the application of nanotechnology to the bearing balls provides higher abrasive resistance as well as capacity to withstand higher temperature”.
