ABC analysis is conventionally employed in industry to facilitate classification of different inventory items corresponding to a single criterion of annual consumption cost. In the present work, a different approach is resorted to for the analysis. 47 disposable items are tried to classify that are needed to undertake treatment of certain patients. These patients are treated in respiratory therapy unit of a hospital. Inventory management of these items are attempted using a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) technique namely Multi-Objective Optimization on the basis of Ratio Analysis, or MOORA.
