The 83rd Plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on November20th, 2006 had adopted a Resolution (61/193) to celebrate the year 2011 as the International Year of Forests. This along-side its decision to designate the 2011- 20 as the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity (Resolution 65/161) are significant steps towards the conservation of the Forests and Bio-diversity across the globe. The focal point for the implementation of this year long activities is vested Upon the Secretariat of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF).
