Swami Vivekananda, an inspiring personality, was well known in both India and abroad. His vast knowledge of Eastern and Western culture as well as his deep spiritual insight, fervid eloquence, brilliant conservation, broad human sympathy, colourful personality, and handsome figure made an irresistible appeal to the many types of people who came in contact with him. People who saw or heard Vivekananda even once still cherish his memory after a lapse of more than half a century. Swami Vivekananda’s (1863-1902) pre monastic name was Narendranath Datta and he was born on the 12th of January, in the year 1863, in the Datta family of Simulia, Calcutta. He is now in the pages of the world’s history. This great man have disappeared from our sight, but history records the story of his life, his struggles and achievement, his message and his influence on humanity. He lived only 39 years but referring to mankind, he said, “I have given enough for fifteen hundred years.”
