The Tagores of Jorasanko in Calcutta were famous for their contributions in literature, art, culture, music and various other forms of performing arts. They were in a sense the harbingers of the renaissance in Bengal, Rabindra Nath Tagore being the most luminous star among them. But it is not very well known that Rabindra Nath Tagore’s eldest brother Sri Dwijendra Nath Tagore (1840 - 1926) apart from being a patriot, a philosopher and a poet, was also a geometer with original ideas.
