Prisms made of transparent thin glass-walls and full of liquid under consideration were taken and experiment for refraction of light through them by means of school–level process with pins were performed for six different angels of incidences in each case. From the thenceforth obtained data graphs of angle of deviation versus angle of incidence were drawn from which the angle of minimum deviation(δm) for each liquid were obtained.Putting these obtained values of ‘ δm’ and measured value of refracting angle of respective prism in the well-known formula for refractive index the same was obtained in each case.

Abstract

Prisms made of transparent thin glass-walls and full of liquid under consideration were taken and experiment for refraction of light through them by means of school–level process with pins were performed for six different angels of incidences in each case. From the thenceforth obtained data graphs of angle of deviation versus angle of incidence were drawn from which the angle of minimum deviation(δm) for each liquid were obtained.Putting these obtained values of ‘ δm’ and measured value of refracting angle of respective prism in the well-known formula for refractive index the same was obtained in each case.
