A total of 20 actinomycetes were isolated from soil sample collected form eight different locations in river side (Diara land) of river Saryug (Ghaghra) in Chapra (Saran) of Bihar. There are isolates were assigned to genus Streptomyces, Nocardia, Actinoplane, Micromonospora and Thermoactionmyces on the basis of result based on morphology, spare mass colour, aerial Substrate mycelium and diffusible pigment. Amongst them Streptomyces were perdominant and constitute 40% of total isolates. Maximum numbering isolates were present in the 1-10 cm (Upper layer of soil)
