“Glory lily” : an endangered plant species from Saran Plain

The occurrence and distribution of Glory lily (Gloriosa superba Linn), known for its beautiful flower and used as medicine by locals of Saran district in Bihar has been studied. A rapid declining trend on the occurrence of the plant, each year from 2002 through 2006 has rendered ii to the states of on Jai gored species in the region. The probable causes of the decline due to fluctuate n of soil characteristics, human settle­ ments and climatological changes have been dealt with.
