In our daily life we use the terms greatest, smallest, shortest, longest, hardest, weakest and most expensive, least effective, so on and so forth. Interestingly enough, nature follows such superlative concepts. Here is an exposition of some natural processes which show either the maximum or the minimum in the value of the specific physical quantity involved in the phenomenon.
