Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage systems aim at storing excess energy from the offpeak hours to deliver it at peak demand times. It can provide million degree temperatures instanteneously for thermonuclear ignition, deliver power levels for extremly short duration in electronic warfare. The present state of the knowledge towards its possibility is reported.

Abstract

Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage systems aim at storing excess energy from the offpeak hours to deliver it at peak demand times. It can provide million degree temperatures instanteneously for thermonuclear ignition, deliver power levels for extremly short duration in electronic warfare. The present state of the knowledge towards its possibility is reported.
