Abstract

Background :In most developing countries such as India, utilization of basic health services has remained poor though there has been an increase in the public and private expenditure on the provision of advanced health care. Maternal health is important in itself and for the health of the children also appropriate care of mother is necessary, both before and after the delivery. The poor utilization of RCH services also serious threats to maternal and child health.

Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the level of satisfaction on RCH services and to explore the factors influencing the extend of utilization of RCH services.

Methods: A quantitative study with descriptive research design and exploratory approach was undertaken to assess the level 0f satisfaction and explore the factors influencing extent of utilization of reproductive and child health services among the mothers at PHC, Pahala. BBSR. 30 mothers were selected by non probability sampling method. Data were collected from by using Likert scale.

Result: The findings shows that the maximum numbers of mother (90%) are highly satisfied with administration of Tetanus toxide and where as highest 30% of mothers were less satisfied as due not giving of proper advice regarding post natal exercise. Chi square was calculated and found that there was no significant association between level of satisfaction among the mothers attending PHC with their selected demographic variable except education (P>0.05).

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy and the birth of a baby is a momentous occasion in a life of a woman, tiny details of the experiences surrounding the whole event are etched in the memory forever. But for some women this experience can be bitter part of her life because of some high risk conditions in her pregnancy. Nurses play an important role in educating the women about these conditions and to prevent it.

Aim: the aim of the study was to assess the knowledge of high risk antenatal mothers on prenatal diagnostic test and educate them about prenatal diagnostic tests.

Methods: pre-experimental research design was used. 50 samples were selected by convenience (non- probability) sampling technique. The study was conducted in Annapurna memorial hospital, Bhubaneswar. Pilot study was conducted, the tool and the study design was found to be feasible. Check list was developed for screening high risk pregnancy and a structured questionnaire was prepared to assess the mother's knowledge on antenatal diagnostic tests.

Results: Results of the study revealed that , education on prenatal diagnostic test was effective in all areas. There was not significant association was found between knowledge scores of the high risk antenatal mothers with their selected demographic variables (P>0.05). Whereas highly significant difference was found between the area wise score values of pretest, post test and overall score. Hence, the stated null hypothesis is rejected and statistical hypothesis was accepted (P<0.01).

Abstract

Background: Obstetric emergencies are life threatening medical conditions that occur in pregnancy or during or after delivery or labour and it is the leading cause of maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity which comprises 46% of maternal mortality in world wide. The active and appropriate management by health care personnel may lead to decrease mortality.

Objective: The purpose of the study was to quantify the level of knowledge regarding obstetric emergency among the staff nurses

Research design and approach: Non experimental, descriptive research design with cross sectional survey approach was used for the present study.

Setting: The study was conducted in Vinayaka Mission's Kirupanada Variyar Medical College Hospital, Salem, Tamilnadu.

Sample size and technique: 48 staff nurses who were working in the Vinayaka Mission's Kirupanada Variyar Medical College Hospital were selected by Convenient sampling technique.

Instrument used: Level of knowledge was measured by using structured questionnaire developed by the researcher.

Major findings: Major findings reveals that highest percentage (71%) of the staff nurses were in the age group of <25 years, Almost all (98%) were diploma holders, Most (86%) of them had below 5 years of experience, Around 50% had 1-2 years of experience in labour ward. Overall mean knowledge score of the staff nurses was (40.1±7.3), which is 42.66% of the total score revealing average level of knowledge. No significant association was found between the knowledge score and demographic variables of the staff nurses.
