The strong warming of the last 60 years can't explain. The 0.6 K increase in average global surface temperature during the 20th century (As IPCC). Compressors and chloro fluro carbon are partially responsible for greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution currently being addressed globally. The current climate models predict that global temperatures will rise by a further 1.4 to 5.8 K by the end of the 21st century. Therefore, the use of nature friendly refrigerant when the driving power comes from renewable or low-grade waste heat sources may lessen global warming and ozone layer depletion. This paper describes a system and introduces an efficient diffusion absorption cycle. Keywords

In hot and humid region, air-conditioning is increasingly used to attain thermal comfort. Air-conditioning is highly energy intensive and it is desirable to develop alternative low-energy means to achieve comfort. A comparison of overall cost reduction in providing thermal comfort in a building by the use of (i) Wetted roof surface and (ii) Painted roof, against bare roof surface. For this purpose M.R reading hall of M.A Library A.M.U Aligarh is chosen as the subject building and the mathematical model available in the literature have been used for prediction of roof outside surface temperature and consequent heat transmission in the building through the roof. Calculations were carried out for a typical summer day of May for Aligarh (India). The difference between the wetted & bare roof and painted & bare roof is compared to conclude that wetted roof surface cooling technique is much better than the painted roof surface. Keywords

Performance analysis of a single slope basin type solar still has been carried out based on the experimental data recorded at Aligarh for some typical days. The radiative, convective and evaporative heat transfer coefficients between the water surface and the glass cover through the humid air are evaluated using standard correlations and those used by other authors. The experimental data include the temperatures of basin liner (absorber plate), water mass, humid air, glass cover surface and the ambient air. Keywords

Correlation for the design parameter of solar distillation plant based upon experimental data collected on a prototype unit of size 2 m×1 m area at Aligarh, has been developed. The correlation for the absorber plate temperature, glass temperature, water liner temperature and water vapor temperature developed in terms of the solar flux fit the experimental data for the month of March, April and December. The mass of distillate calculated from the energy balance equation with the help of MATLAB software using the developed correlation also agree well, with the measured values of the distillate on the available plant. Keywords

The aim of this study is to discuss a vehicle driven by a solar and electrical means. The renewable energy is vital for today's world as in near future the non-renewable sources that we are using are going to get exhausted. The solar vehicle is a step in saving these non-renewable sources of energy. The basic principle of solar car is to use energy that is stored in a battery during and after charging it from a solar panel. The charged batteries are used to drive the motor which serves here as an engine and moves the vehicle in reverse or forward direction. The electrical tapping rheostat is provided so as to control the motor speed. This avoids excess flow of current when the vehicle is supposed to be stopped suddenly as it is in normal cars with regards to fuel. This idea, in future, may help protect our fuels from getting extinguished. All recent electric vehicles present drive on AC power supplied motor. The setup requires an inverter set connected to battery through which DC power is converted to AC power. During this conversion many losses take place and hence the net output is very less and lasts for shorter duration of time. Although this is cheaper setup and maintenance required is much more in AC drive than DC drive. The vehicle designed is controlled by electrical means. It also has a bomb detector which helps it detect the bombs. It is very useful for military purposes. This vehicle is small in size and light in weight so these are very useful in military operations. Keywords
