Pile Foundation is not always the best Solution
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Every civil engineering building/structure needs foundation, on or in the earth to transfer the load. The essential requirement of any foundation structure is that the load should be transmitted to a soil stratum at intensity so that the stratum can sustain without causing any shear failure or excessive settlement. It is imperative that the buildings/structures should have firm foundation, properly constructed with adequate size to support and restrict the settlement to allowable limit so as to enable the building to function satisfactorily. Foundation systems are often classified as shallow or deep foundation depending on the depth of the load transfer member below the super structure and the transfer load mechanism. The required foundation system depends on strength and compressibility of the soil stratum, the proposed loading condition and project performance criteria.
