Appraisal or safety performance is essential for effective accident prevention. No accident prevention campaign can be successful without knowing how many injuries take place and how severe they are. Computation of industrial accident rates is, therefore, a necessity and for this, Indian Standard method for computation of frequency and Severity rates for industrial injuries (IS:3786-2966) should be adhered to.
