Puruliya, the westernmost district of the State of West Bengal is endowed with many natural resources viz. land and forest, water and mineral wealth, however, the present status of development does not commensurate with the need. In fact, the rapid decrease In the resources-population ratio together with unplanned attempts for development of the available resources have practically stalled the economic development and other activities in the district.
