Concept of Man-Machine System Reliability

This paper presents the basic concept of reliability applicable to Mechanical Engineering. The paper also includes the results obtained and the conclusions drawn from the computer aided reliability analysis of equipment of thermal power plant done by the authors as an example of how to use the theories of reliability in actual engineering practice. However, in reality in the operation and maintenance of a plant errors arise out of a quite specific combination of conditions in the man-machine system and it is on the total system that the attention is centered.
