The Role of Calcutta Tramways in Urban Transportation System in Calcutta

Calcutta, the grand city of palaces has witnessed over centuries the revolution of the transportation modes right from palanquin to this present state of various automobiles. The most pinching problem of this old city is in this field of transportation. The reason is obviously the uncurbed and unplanned growth of the city and the unlimited icence of countless fast-moving vehicles. In this article the state of affairs of the tramways and its future plans are disussed.
