Production and Productivity
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Production and productivity are two relative terms used in any manufacturing units or in any organisations where men are employed to produce something.
Comparative annual production statistics year wise of a certain manufacturing unit without the statistics of actual men and machine hours engaged has got no meaning.
More production without analysis of the rate of production is no productivity.
The rate of production per capita is a measurement for productivity.
Various factors involving for the productivity are :-
(i) Motivation of the work-force by providing automatic machines and equipment ;
(ii) Introduction of incentive scheme by proper and systemic time and motion study ;
(iii) Mechanisation, modernisation and proper tooling ;
Constraints, Management's objectives, policies and industrial relations are related to production and productivity.
