Subscribe/Renew Journal
The iron age succeeded the two former periods of culture known respectively as the stone age and bronze age. Iron smelting was practised in India as early as 3000 BC. The famous wootz or wooz steel of India has been mentioned by some western authors as "Hindoo" steel which appeared in western Europe via Damascus and known as Damascus steel in the west. Persian called this steel poulad jauher der.
