First Defence Electronics Convention

From September 28 to 1 October 1959, Bangalore was the venue of a Defence Electronics Convention, first of its kind to be held in the country. Over 350 delegates-high ranking service and civilian officers from the Defence Services, prominent Scientists, Engineers and Technologists representing National Laboratories, the Atomic Energy Commission, Civil Aviation, the P. & T. Department, academic institutions and research associations and institutions, got together for an intensive three day discussion and interchange of views on the, applications of electronics to Defence needs. Representatives of the U.S. and Soviet Embassies also attended the convention. Altogether 42 different major organisations were represented.
