Articles have appeared in the Journal in 1932, 1935, 1937, 1938, 1943, 1945, 1950, 1952, yet the subject is brought up again this year in view of its topical interest. There are a few problems in ship design to which it is necessary to give publicity so that those who have to place orders for construction of ships might bear them in mind where considering the size of the ship which they should order and the speed at which it should be run.
