First Baisakh-the Bengali New year (14th April 1949.)
The last stroke of old year dies away. There dawns new hope, dawns new ambition. Hopes for better times and prosperous free India illumine the horizon with the first streak of light. On such an auspicious date a batch of engineers, old and young, all of them members of the Association of Engineers, started for Dhanbad, the land of collieries, the land of latent power of free India to visit some of the engineering projects in operation there.
