Comments on Mr. B. S. Ganguli's Paper on "Factory Administration and Supervision"

I am much pleased to see that a paper on the subject "Factory Administration and Supervision" is read before the Association of Engineers by Mr. B. S. Ganguly, A.M.A.E. The importance of such a subject is very inadequately appreciated here even at present. That factory administration is a science is still not well known here. Scientific administration is a great necessity for engineers to know, perhaps not less important to learn than mechanics, thermodynamics, or the like. In U.S.A. and Europe all important Universities made it a compulsory subject for Graduates of Engineering, especially for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. In the College of Engineering and Technology. Jadavpur the subject "Factory Organisation and Management" has been introduced for more than 12 years and is fairly well developed now and the students are taking keen interest in the subject. They are definitely benefited by the introduction of this subject in the curriculum.
