Irrigation-Planning in Bengal

This book contains a brief survey of the present position and past history of the system of Irrigation in Bengal:of its defects and problems. It discusses methods of solution of outstanding problems peculiar to Bengal, arising out of the need for Railway protection Embankments, flushing, drainage, regeneration of dead and decaying rivers and Canals, Navigation and Hydro-electric development together with problems of irrigation proper, and shows the importance of these particular matters that so complicate the problems of irrigation in this-once smiling but now-unhappy province.
