Locomotive Manufacture in India

A new scheme by the Railway Board proposes the purchase of 230 locomotives annually for 15 years. Of these, the Kancharapara workshop is expected to furnish 80 and an unnamed private firm about 100. Of the remaining 50 a projected workshop in South India will give an unspecified number.
