Electric Locomotives in Indian Coal Mines (Efficient Earth Return Plays an Important Part)

In India there are only four or five coal mines where Locomotives of the Electric type are used underground for haulage purposes, taking positive current from a "Trolley" the rails being used for "Earth Return." Direct current 220 to 250 volts is used for the purpose.
