Power generation for agricultural, industrial production and domestic consumption has a high priority in our national fifth five year plan and specially in the current economic development plan of our Central Government for the growing population which is expected to be doubled by the end of the century. This paper examines the dimensions of this challenge and identifies alternative courses of action for our nation. The paper deals with sectoral studies of power needs and is prepared from the existing data of individuals and groups concerned with our nation's future.
