Gone are the days when the population and its density were meagre and man could afford to have ample land for his habitation. The springing up of Industrial complexes has given way for the rapid urban growth. The complexities of urban life compel people to live in congested and crowded localities and it is no wonder-slums have sprung up in these areas. The plight of the people living in these slums is awfully bad. Improving the living conditions of these down-trodden people should be viewed in a more socialistic way. The slum people should be rehabilitated at the very same place of their living, so as to be near their work centres, but with houses with environment planned more hygienically.
