In India Public Health Engineering has been considered as one of the chapters of Civil Engineering. Hence no research and thought of scientific designing was given to Public Health Engineering. Whereas in foreign countries especially in America much research was being conducted in Public Health Engineering when after carriage system came into general use early in the last century many of the precautions to be found in drainage were not taken.
