Urban transportation planning methodology developed in affluent western cities involving sophisticated mathematical modelling & computer technology has little relevance to the cities of developing countries because the uncertainty of the change in the economic & social structure as well as land use & physical conditions severely restrict the applicability of any predictive methodology.
