Role of Rigid PVC Pipes in Potable Water Supply

In this article the author discusses briefly about PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) as pipe material for potable water supply. The physical, mechanical and other properties are presented for ready reference. The increased trend of usage of PVC pipes in water distribution systems in developed countries has been shown. Lastly the author suggests that PVC pipes should be used in India for water systems in urban and rural areas in view of the economy and overall efficiency of the PVC pipes compared to the conventional piping systems.
