Before independence mechanised construction was almost unknown in our country. With the introduction of five-year plans use of heavy machines in construction activities became imperative. First mechanised construction in a big scale was introduced in D.V.C. Projects and in Bhakra Dam. A very brief discussion on the following Projects may be of interest to the gathering.
