Agro-Service Centres in West Bengal
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Agriculture in West Bengal suffers from inadequate power and extension service. Studies made in other countries show that the agricultural production of a country to a very large extent depends upon the energy available. Prof. Giles who was with the Ford Foundation in this country for over five years in an interesting report "Agriculture, Power and Equipment" has pointed out that for a production of about 3000 Kg/ha., about 1 hp may be needed, whereas in India on an average available power is about 0.15 hp/ha.
