Experimental Evaluation for Isolation of Machinery Foundation Vibration
Subscribe/Renew Journal
In engineering practice it is common to come across vibratory system. Installation of machine like, rolling mill, hammers etc. are common. Operating machines are source of vibration, which may cause vibration of the structures near by.
Open trench is very effective. However it is very difficult to keep trench open. Isolating materials like, rubber, cork, felt, wood, saw dust etc. are filled in trench.
In this paper the problem of isolation has-been studied by using i sensitive cathode-ray-oscillograph method.
It was found that saw dust is most effective as compared to other material tested viz wood, cork, felt, However at high frequency of vibration, the rubber is found to be more effective medium of isolation. Seeing the cost consideration saw dust is recommended as being the cheapest material and most effective for normal mode of vibration 10 Hz to 10 KHz.
