The disposal of human wastes and other organic refuse without creating nuisance has been a problem since time immemorial. As regards the causes of pollution in the World to-day, it is found that developed countries poison their lakes and rivers with wastes from chemical arid other factories whereas in under developed countries these sources are polluted, by the discharge of sewage. In India, the position warrants to some extent, in both domestic as well as industrial discharge causing pollution in the water courses.
