In almost all the branches of applied and development research, there are two main problems: the measurement or collection of data and the analysis and the meaningful interpretation of the data. There is one more difficulty-that is the delay in the analysis of the data. Not only it costs us money but it also poses to be major obstacle in the development and experimental research. We have a set of experimental data and we are concerned here to get the results at the earliest opportunity. And in most of the cases, we are not ready to appreciate or recognise the problems and difficulties involved with the analysing process. To make the analysis, the help of of research assistant is sought. The research assistant may be man or machine depending on the nature of the job. There are two aspects of data analysis. First one is the transformation or reduction of the data and second one is its interpretation. The job in the first case may be done either by a man or a machine while in the latter case it is clearly human activity.
