The air that we breathe, contains not only nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide, but a host of other gases and particles, some of which are of natural origin but most of which are wastes from our civilization. The quantities of these gases and particles when compared to nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide are relatively less but their effects on human health and welfare may be considerable. In addition to man, impure air affects plants, animals and inanimate things like buildings, properties etc.
