Engineering industries in the country today are faced with the problems of excess capacity, fall in internal demand, paucity of foreign exchange for importing vital raw materials and spares and excessive cost of production, making export and earning foreign exchange a difficult task. These problems could be resolved to a large extent by higher productivity, that is, higher output without corresponding enlargement of input. When input is limited, higher productivity can be achieved only by more effective and efficient utilization of Man, Machine, Materials and Money.
