Reliability of any engineering device or system implies the probability associated with the non-failure performance of the device or system for an accumulated time in a specific environment over a given period of operation with some desired or predicted level of confidence. The paper deals with the reliability as applied to the performance of thermal power plant. It is attempted to extend the computer aided reliability analysis to different components, namely, feed-pump, boiler, steam turbine and overall power generation in a thermal power plant. It has been observed that the reliability of the boiler is the least and the reliability of the feed-pump and that of the turbine are relatively high. In other words boiler is generally considered as the weakest link in a thermal power plant. Further, in the operation and maintenance of plant in real life there always exist some deviations or errors due to specific combinations of conditions in the man-machine system, which have been discussed in the paper.
