0.1 Problem of housing is as old as human civilization. Man wanted protection against the vagaries of nature such as rains, storms, cold, sunshine, exposures, wild animals etc. What he could think of was either the tree tops or the caves for his abode. But his was a nomadic life as he had to be on the run for food from one place to another. Site for his housing was therefore very much dependant upon both environment as well as availability of the necessities of life which we now technically call as the infra-structure.- Engineering Materials and Equipment-Problems of Standardization
