Abstract
Richness, uniqueness, significance and importance of natural and cultural heritage of India have been discussed. National and international measures taken for conservation of the same are stated. Degradation of our heritage is going unabated. Examples of successful conservation programmes through peoples' participation are cited. Responsibilities of the present generation to ensure safe transfer of heritage to the future generations for their well-being are focused.
