The radium content of river waters collected from eighteen different Indian rivers has been measured. The river water can usually be classified into two categories: limpid and turbid. The radium content of limpid waters has been found to be lower (∼10-16g/ml) than that of its turbid Partner (∼10-15g/ml). In the latter case, the radium contents both of the filtered component and the sediment have been separately measured. The sediment invariably exhibits a higher value.
