The paper is based on field observation, analysis of aerial photographs, and interpretation of large-scale topographical sheets of the triangular tract located at the terminus of, and drained by the distributaries of the Markanda River in the state of Haryana. The size of the terminal triangular tract is shown to be directly correlated with size and discharge of the stream, the angle of divergence, frequency of divergence, and the number of lower-order distributaries.
