Barite deposits are known to occur in the Shernavala outlier near Khammam Town and are found associated with Pakhal sediments of Upper Proterozoic age. The results of electrical resistivity profiling were significant in tracing a shear zone consisting of vein quartz. The gravity method was useful in demarcating the barite body from the associated quartz, and the ore reserves were estimated to be 86,000 tonnes.

Abstract

Barite deposits are known to occur in the Shernavala outlier near Khammam Town and are found associated with Pakhal sediments of Upper Proterozoic age. The results of electrical resistivity profiling were significant in tracing a shear zone consisting of vein quartz. The gravity method was useful in demarcating the barite body from the associated quartz, and the ore reserves were estimated to be 86,000 tonnes.
