Trace Fossils from the Cambrian of Kashmir and their Stratigraphic Significance
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Trace fossil assemblages studied from the known stratigraphic horizons of Cambrian with a view to establishing their ranges in Himalayan succession have indicated that trilobite tracks and trails are stratigraphically significant. These include the ichnogenera Monomorphichnus, Rusophycus and a new genus and species, Kupwaria fusiformis, together with varieties of claw scratchings. As against this, the various species of ichnogenus Phycodes have stratigraphic ranges which do not exactly, correspond to their reported distribution from other parts of the world. A range chart based on associated trilobite fossils has been built for stratigraphically significant ichnofossil assemblages.
