Physico-chemical properties such as pH, conductance, CEC, Grain-size distribution, Atterberg's indices etc. of four different Kashmir soils have been investigated. The X-ray analyses and transmission electron microscopic study of these soils reveal the presence of kaolinite, illite and chlorite as the principal clay minerals in them.
