Three anomalous zones of (i) Low planktonic foraminifera; (ii) High agglutinated foraminifera and (iii) Low-Globorotalia (Menardella) menardii and no-Bathysiphon filiormis are identified in the Exclusive Economic Zone off Godavari delta to Puri. The deviation from Wright-van Marle model of zone (i) can most probably be due to the non-production of Neogloboquadrina dutertrei and Globigerinoides ruber in the top water layers owing to a higher salinity zone probably created by the current patterns. The counter currents of low salinity are probably responsible for the Bathysiphon filiformis dominant zone, (ii) The path of the low salinity under water currents is probably marked by the no- Bathysiphon filiformis, low-Globorotalia (Menardella) menardii zone.
