The Gulabgarh region of Kashmir Himalaya presents an interesting area in providing the complete geological section from Salkhalas to Tertiaries which are traversed by two tectonic planes viz., the Murree Thrust in the south and the Panjal Thrust in the north. An attempt has been made in this paper to present pragmatic classificatory models of granites after comparing the tectonic groups of the present area with the classic areas elsewhere in the world.

Abstract

The Gulabgarh region of Kashmir Himalaya presents an interesting area in providing the complete geological section from Salkhalas to Tertiaries which are traversed by two tectonic planes viz., the Murree Thrust in the south and the Panjal Thrust in the north. An attempt has been made in this paper to present pragmatic classificatory models of granites after comparing the tectonic groups of the present area with the classic areas elsewhere in the world.
